Sadly, now that he’s done it once he will be inclined to do it again if you get more chickens and he can get at them.

Teach your chicken karate. No, you can’t.
In Indonesia, people build hen house on water (ponds) to keep the chicken safe from hungry predators, while under water, we have a crowd of fish ready to eat the chicken’s waste.

I see that you dropped by my Millie the Hen. I tried everything but eventually found a method that worked, though I’m not sure I would recommend it again.
Once a dog has a taste for fresh chicken on the hoof, so as to speak, they will continue to want the chase, the kill and the reward.
I stuffed the chicken that my dogs killed with hot spices then let them eat it. Perhaps you could rub your chickens with a little jalapeno pepper juice and then let the dog in close proximity…. I don’t think that could have any lasting effect on either the chicken or the dog but it would surely make the dog pay attention!
